How we check reviews
Only registered users with a confirmed email address can write reviews, at most one per business and account. We do not check for every review whether the person actually used the service. Before publication, every review goes through an automatic check for spam, insults and third-party data; anything that stands out is checked by a person. If there are reasonable doubts, for example when a business denies any customer contact, we ask for proof. Businesses can neither buy reviews nor have them removed for money.
We provide this information under § 5b(3) of the German Act against Unfair Competition (UWG). The reviews on this platform come from our users; we do not copy review texts from other websites. On some listings we also show stars from Google Maps; we do not check whether they are genuine (see Stars from Google Maps).
Who may write reviews
- You need an account with a confirmed email address and must be at least 16 years old.
- Only review businesses whose services you have used yourself, for example during a visit, an order, a course or an event.
- There is one review per business and account.
- You may not review your own business, your employer’s business, businesses of relatives or competitors.
What is allowed
Describe your experience honestly and specifically: what was good, what was not, and when you were there. Strong criticism is allowed. Opinions are protected, even if the business does not like them. Statements of fact must be true, and you must be able to prove them if in doubt.
What is not allowed
- insults, defamatory criticism, threats, hate speech and discrimination,
- false statements of fact,
- names, photos or other data of staff, guests or other people who do not appear in public themselves,
- information about other people’s health,
- advertising, links and contact details,
- reviews in return for a benefit, for example discounts, gifts, money or taking part in a prize draw,
- reviews written on behalf of others, several reviews of the same business from different accounts and copied texts,
- content that has nothing to do with the service, for example political statements or disputes between private individuals.
How we check
- Automatic pre-check: before publication, a filter checks every review for spam, insults, contact details and third-party data. Anything it holds back is checked by a person before the review appears or is rejected.
- No general authenticity check: we do not ask for proof with every review. We only label a review as a verified visit if we have received proof.
- Checks after a notice: if we receive indications of an impermissible review, we check it individually, including retrospectively.
Complaints by businesses
If a business considers a review illegal, for example because there was no customer contact or a fact is untrue, it can challenge it via Report content. We then proceed as follows:
- We check whether the complaint is specific enough. We block manifestly illegal reviews immediately.
- If the complaint is substantiated, we hide the review until the matter is resolved and ask the reviewer for a statement within 14 days and, where customer contact is in question, for proof, for example an invoice, a booking confirmation or a photo of the visit.
- We pass the statement and redacted proof on to the business, insofar as this is necessary for the review and permitted under data protection law.
- We decide and tell both sides the outcome with reasons. If the reviewer does not reply or cannot make the customer contact plausible, the review stays removed.
We only disclose the reviewer’s identity if a court orders it under § 21 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG).
Replies from businesses
Every business can reply publicly once to every review, free of charge and regardless of any package. The same rules apply to replies as to reviews; in particular, they must not contain personal data of the reviewer.
Average rating and order
We calculate a business’s average rating from all published reviews, each with equal weight. Next to the rating we show the number of reviews. On a profile the newest reviews appear first; you can also sort by best or worst first. How reviews affect the order of listings is explained in Ranking transparency.
Paid packages change nothing about reviews, their order on the profile or the average rating.
Stars from Google Maps
On some listings we also show the average star rating and the number of reviews on Google Maps, always with the source “Google Maps”, the retrieval date and a link to the Google profile. These reviews come from Google users, not from this platform. We do not check whether they are genuine, and we do not copy any review texts. Stars from Google are kept separate from the reviews on this platform and count neither towards the average rating nor towards the order of listings.
Changing or deleting your review
You can have your review deleted at any time. Write to us via Report content or at info@eloyellow-brasil.de. What happens to reviews when you delete your account is explained in the Privacy policy.
Measures for violations
We do not publish reviews that violate this policy, or we remove them. In the case of repeated or serious violations, we may block accounts. If businesses offer anything in return for reviews or have reviews faked, we remove the reviews concerned and may take further measures under the Business terms. We inform those affected of every measure, with reasons.
